This past weekend, I found myself in the sleepy little town of Hermann, MO. It’s nestled along the Missouri River in the heart of the state’s wine country. Hermann’s German heritage can be seen all around in the architecture and street and business names.
There are four wineries close by offering tours and taste testing. Stone Hill is a favorite, and I’d definitely recommend having dinner there at their Vintage Restaurant, which is in an old carriage house. The booths you are seated in are actually in old horse stalls. The place has an interesting atmosphere about it.
Also in Hermann are quite a few little shops to visit, a brewery, and lots of bed and breakfast options. We stayed at the Lydia Johnson Inn, and it was wonderful. Our room was very nice, breakfast was yummy, and we enjoyed great company. Would highly recommend.
