Layer by layer, the artisan irons warm, plant-based wax around the wick, with a patience and dedication passed down through generations. This is how a traditional Warosoku candle is created – an age-old craft that is palpable in every candle. You can see the love for the craft in the subtle imperfections that adorn the wax layers like perfect imperfections, like annual rings on a tree trunk.

Salt of High Water: Ritual Purification

The white salt candles in this set carry the purifying energy of the sea. Sea salt is only harvested at high tide – when moon and sun together lift the ocean to its highest tide. Harvested at such magical moments, this salt is full of life force and cleansing properties, deeply rooted in ancient Japanese rituals. When the candle burns, the salt spreads its purifying influence: negativity is absorbed, just as salt traditionally drives away evil influences, and a sense of clarity descends into the room.

Black Candles: Charcoal and Cosmic Hemp

The black candles in the set are made of purifying charcoal and cosmic hemp . Charcoal – obtained from charred wood – is known for its ability to purify water and air by absorbing impurities and thus bringing balance. Hemp has been added to this, which is imbued with an almost cosmic energy; this hemp activates the vitality in our body and dispels any heaviness from the atmosphere. Together they give the flame an earthy power and ethereal lightness, as if earth and heaven merge in each burning candle.

Clear Light of Washi

Each candle has a wick made of traditional washi paper wrapped around igusa (tatami reed) fibers. This special wick creates an exceptionally bright flame that burns high and steady.
